Ogun 2019: Isaga indigenes confirm Adeola’s ancestry

Isaga indigenes in Ogun State and beyond,  on Sunday, unanimously cleared the air on the origin of Sen. Solomon Adeola and confirmed the gubernatorial aspirant in the state is their “true son”.
The Isaga indigenes from 30 Isaga communities in Ogun and Lagos states, who converged on Oba Asade Agunloye IV Pavilion, Ilaro in Yewa South Local Government area of the state, equally endorsed the aspiration of Sen. Adeola to take a shot at the governorship position come 2019.
Speaking on behalf of the Isaga communities, a former Pro-Chancellor, Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB), Chief Lawrence Osayemi, said the gathering and the pronouncement became necessary to put paid, once and for all, to the controversy surrounding the ancestry of Sen, Adeola.
Osayemi, who is also the Balogun of Isaga,  declared that the gubernatorial aspirant “is not a foreigner but a true son of the soil,” adding he had been recognised as an indigene of Isaga since his days as a member of the Lagos State House of Assembly.
Osayemi’s words, “We had recognised him as one of our sons in Isaga since when he was serving at the Lagos state House of Assembly.
“Today, we are witnessing the convocation of Isaga sons and daughters both at home and in diaspora to tend our support to the person of Senator Solomon Adeola.
“Sen. Adeola has been sufficiently equipped for the office having served in all facets of governance relevant to the position.
“Adeola’s origin in Yewa is never in doubt, even though his detractors and adversaries call him various names ranging from ‘Tekobo’ to ‘Atohunrinwa’ and ‘foreigner’, but we know he is a bonafide Isaga son whose great great grandfather, Ologe, migrated from Isaga-Orile, a Yewa town in the present Abeokuta North local government area to Ago Isaga, Pahayi, after the Dahomey Invasion of Isaga- Orile on March 15,1862.
“The invasion left the town devastated and there were family displacements, which led to the founding of so many Isaga settlements across Yewa, Abeokuta, Lagos and the Republic of Benin.
“However, by this gathering today, we have unanimously shown our unflinching support for our son, who is aspiring for the position of the Governor of Ogun state come 2019”.
In his remarks, Sen. Adeola, said there was not a time he was confused about his ancestry adding “I have never claimed another community aside my my town, Isaga Pahayi”.
He, however, said contrary to some media reports that he verbally assaulted Governor Ibikunle Amosoun, he has great respect for the governor who he described as “political father and leader”.
 “I heard that some people said I was once confused and in search of my root, that is not true. I was never in search and I have never claimed another root other than my ancestral home.
“Meanwhile, I hold the governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun, in great esteem and I will never disrespect him as a governor of my own state.” Adeola submitted.
