Michal Leniec breaks Guinness World Record as longest ever football manager

A 38-year-old man from Poland has destroyed the Guinness World Record for the longest ever game of Football Manager.
In his copy of Football Manager 2016, Michal Leniec has been the virtual manager of his favourite team, Lech Poznan, for an astonishing 221 seasons – blowing the previous record of 170 seasons out the water.
That makes his age in the game 258, and we thought Sir Alex Ferguson had a long managerial career after 26 years at Manchester United.
During his incredibly long career he still managed to boast an impressive win rate of 76 per cent with 14,381 matches, 10,997, 1664 draws and 1,720 losses.
On top of his responsibilities at Lech Poznan, he also took on 35 different international roles that ran simultaneously with his domestic career.
It can be quite difficult for a lot of Football Manager players to not get fired but Leniec maintained his job for the entirety of his 221 year career. He impressively only had two relegations during that time.
He also lead Lech Poznan to their first ever Champions League trophy plus another 44 of them after that and also 42 FIFA Club World Cup wins.
Yet, he says the most important thing to him was nurturing young talent: ‘My goal is to train young players and introduce them to first team, almost the same as the real Lech Poznan.
“The highlight of my career was definitely when my pupils (current or ex-players, but all from Lech Poznan Academy) were in the starting eleven of the World Team of the Year.”
